About Bishop Ranch Open Space Regional Preserve

Bishop Ranch Open Space Regional Preserve is a quiet ridge-top refuge a short distance from the subdivisions of the San Ramon Valley. Deer, red-tailed hawks, and turkey vultures are among the animals to watch for, and the Park District publishes wild plant checklists and wildflower photo guides for the preserve.

There are no facilities beyond a trailhead and the trails themselves. People come to hike, walk dogs, fly kites, and picnic on a blanket. Because the grades are steep, the Park District notes that the trails are generally not suitable for wheelchair users.

To reach the trailhead, leave I-680 at Bollinger Canyon Road and head west to San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Turn left (south) and drive to Morgan Drive, then turn right (west). Park along Morgan Drive, where parking is free; the trailhead is on the left. The preserve is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. unless otherwise posted and is administered from Las Trampas Regional Wilderness on Bollinger Canyon Road.
