About Two Strike County Park
Two Strike County Park is a favorite with La Crescenta residents, with open lawns for children, a popular spot for family picnics, and greenery that makes it a common backdrop for wedding photos.
The park was the idea of Dennis Morgan, a movie star of the 1940s and 1950s who was La Crescenta's honorary mayor at the time. He was troubled that local children had nowhere to play: a child playing in the street, he believed, already had two strikes, and the third could be getting hit by a car. Morgan staged a series of celebrity ball games to raise money. In 1949, on behalf of Two Strike Series, Inc., he offered to donate a 5-acre parcel if the county would buy another 2 acres, and in 1950 the Board of Supervisors added 3.54 acres.
