About El Cariso Community Regional Park

El Cariso Community Regional Park is a memorial to the young men who died in the Loop Fire on November 1, 1966. The 80-acre park on Hubbard Street in Sylmar serves the surrounding communities with picnic areas, play areas, a fitness zone, tennis courts, and a community swimming pool.

Its 15,000-square-foot gymnasium and community center was dedicated in October 2011. The mission-style building includes civic art, a large gym with two electronic scoreboards, classrooms and community rooms, a full kitchen, restrooms, and staff offices.

Outdoors there are also a running track, a fitness par course, football and soccer fields, a wading pool, horseshoe pits, and a teen center. Junior lifeguards, water polo, wrestling, golf lessons, gardening, self-defense classes, and senior clubs are among the many programs. County staff are not on duty Sundays, and restroom access ends at 8:30 in the evening.
