About East Rancho Dominguez Park

East Rancho Dominguez Park, once called East Compton Park, is a busy 5-acre park on S. Atlantic Avenue. It is best known as the place where Venus and Serena Williams learned to play tennis.

The park keeps several yearly traditions, including a tree lighting ceremony and a luncheon every September 11 honoring law enforcement officers and firefighters. Tennis courts and tennis lessons are still part of the program, along with a gym, basketball courts, a playground, group picnic shelters, and barbecues. Toastmasters, bird walks, concerts, self-defense classes, the toy loan program, day camps, and summer lunch are also listed.

Staff take Sundays off here. Restrooms open at seven and close at 8:30 p.m.
