About Mary M. Bethune Park

Mary M. Bethune Park honors Mary McLeod Bethune, the educator and civil rights leader. The park sits on E. 61st Street in the Florence-Firestone community, and its skate park was one of the first that LA County Parks built.

Youth leagues in baseball, softball, soccer, and flag football are run here together with Kids N' Sports. Beyond the skate park, the grounds include a gym, handball and basketball courts, a swimming pool, civic art, a computer lab, a play area for children, and picnic shelters with barbecues. Teen clubs, martial arts, movie screenings, day camps, computer classes, summer lunch, and toy loans fill out the calendar.

Restrooms shut half an hour before the park's 9 p.m. closing.
