About Jesse Owens Community Regional Park
Jesse Owens Community Regional Park was once called Sportsman Park. It was renamed for Jesse Owens, the Olympian who won four gold medals at the Berlin Olympics. The 20-acre park on S. Western Avenue is a few minutes from LAX, has one of two heated indoor pools in the South Los Angeles area, and sits next to a 9-hole, par-3 golf course.
Baseball, flag football, basketball, soccer, tennis, and aqua aerobics are offered. Facilities include a gym, a weight room, tennis courts, a softball field, a computer lab, and picnic shelters, and its program list includes junior golf and golf lessons, an aquatics team, martial arts, nutrition and self-defense classes, Toastmasters, and teen clubs.
The park is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays.
