About Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area
Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area is a regional park in the San Gabriel Valley at 15501 E. Arrow Highway. The recreational swim beach opens on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend, then Wednesday through Sunday from Father's Day weekend. On busy summer days the park may close once it reaches full capacity, so the county advises arriving early.
Wheel Fun Rentals rents pedal boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards on the lake, along with three- and four-wheel surreys and specialty cycles that seat up to 11 people; the last bike goes out an hour before closing. A snack bar serves pizza and ice cream.
The park runs a Junior Lake Lifeguard Program for ages 9 to 17. Lifeguards mentor participants in open water, teaching water safety, first aid, CPR, and rescue skills along with teamwork and a look at careers in aquatics. On the last Friday of June, July, and August, an overnight family camping event pairs camping with recreational fishing.
Reservations are required for gatherings of more than 50 people, for special equipment such as inflatable bouncers, amplified sound, or large barbecue grills, and for third-party vendors such as caterers, face painters, or food trucks. From November 1 through February 28 the park is open Wednesday through Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
