About Talbert Regional Park
Talbert Regional Park is a natural park along the Santa Ana River in Costa Mesa, split by Victoria Street into North Talbert (about 91.5 acres) and South Talbert (about 88.5 acres), between Pacific Avenue and the river. Rather than lawns and ballfields, it is planted in six zones that follow the plant communities found along the lower Santa Ana River: an intensive-use area for picnicking and informal recreation, a border planting that screens the Greenville-Banning Channel, a coastal strand of gentle slopes and dunes, a native grassland that is the park's largest zone, a secluded alluvial woodland, and a 14.8-acre wetland zone at the south end with riparian woodland and mulefat scrub.
The trail system is designed for watching wildlife and reading the interpretive signs, and it links to other parks up and down the Santa Ana River corridor. Groups can visit the habitat areas on guided walks. Leashed dogs are allowed. OC Parks is preparing a master plan for the park's future.
There is no on-site parking at Talbert Regional Park.
