About Anderson Lake County Park

Anderson Lake County Park surrounds Anderson Reservoir, the largest reservoir in Santa Clara County, a lake seven miles long covering 953 surface acres. The park also includes the Coyote Creek Parkway trails, Moses L. Rosendin Park, and Burnett Park.

The reservoir is closed for the Anderson Dam Seismic Retrofit Project, and access to it, including fishing, is prohibited during construction; the dam is scheduled to be finished in 2032. A 2009 study by the water district found that parts of the dam might not hold up in a magnitude 7.25 earthquake on the Calaveras Fault, which runs a little over a mile away.

Along Coyote Creek, family picnic areas are open all year on a first-come, first-served basis, and one group picnic area can be reserved for a fee. Fishing in Coyote Creek follows special regulations during the April to November season. Hiking and horseback riding are among the park's activities. The Coyote Creek Visitor Center hosts guided weekday-morning field trips for groups of up to 35 students in grades 1 and 2, which explore the creek's riparian habitat, and each June it holds Coyote Creek Habitat Day, celebrating the people and animals that have lived along the creek.

The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset, with a vehicle entry fee year-round. The visitor center entrance at 19245 Malaguerra Avenue in Morgan Hill has free parking and restrooms, and the Live Oak entrance on Cochrane Road has paid parking and restrooms.
