About Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline
Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline is a bayside park in San Leandro, still under development, just south of Oakland International Airport. The Park District is building up the park's landforms to meet the Oyster Bay Land Use Plan Amendment it adopted in 2013.
The shoreline attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Marsh hawks, black-shouldered kites, red-tailed hawks, and shorebirds are common, and the views across the Bay are wide open.
Seven group picnic areas sit among tree berms and new lawns along the multipurpose trails; they cannot be reserved. The interior trails lead up to a viewpoint topped by Roger Berry's sculpture “Rising Wave,” while the perimeter trail follows the water. The two-mile section of Bay Trail around the edge is paved from the Neptune entrance to the Bill Lockyer Bridge. Restrooms are near the picnic area and the new lawn.
From I-880 in San Leandro, exit at Marina Boulevard, drive west, and turn right on Neptune Drive. Parking is at the end of the road.
