About Dan Blocker Beach

Dan Blocker Beach is a narrow, sandy Malibu beach backed by bluffs, with more than a mile of ocean frontage. It draws surfers, divers, and scuba enthusiasts, and people also swim and fish here.

The beach is named for Dan Blocker, who played Eric “Hoss” Cartwright on the TV series Bonanza. His co-stars Lorne Greene and Michael Landon donated the land to the State of California in his memory, and the state transferred it to Los Angeles County in September 1995.

In 2014 the county added a public viewing area, a parking lot, ADA-compliant restrooms, ocean-facing benches, and two picnic tables. The beach is at 26000 Pacific Coast Highway, with a parking lot and street parking, and Metro Bus 534 stops at Pacific Coast Highway and Corral Creek Bridge.
