About Point Dume County Beach

Point Dume County Beach in Malibu has more than a mile of ocean frontage and 34 acres of sand framed by headlands, cliffs, and rocky coves. A hiking trail climbs to an ancient coastal bluff sand dune with views across all of Santa Monica Bay to Catalina Island on clear days, and the bluff is one of the area's best places to watch gray whales during their December-to-March migration. A stairway on the east side of the bluff top leads down to a more secluded beach with good tide pooling.

Popular activities include swimming, surfing, diving, and scuba diving, with lifeguards on duty in daylight hours. The beach has restrooms, showers, restaurants, and a paid lot with 373 spaces on Westward Beach Road.

Metro bus 534 stops at Cliffside Drive and Dume Drive.
