About Nicholas Canyon County Beach

Nicholas Canyon County Beach is usually less crowded than most Malibu beaches. Surfers know it as “Zeros” or “Point Zero,” one of the few perfect point breaks left in Los Angeles County, and it is also used for body surfing, bodyboarding, swimming, windsurfing, diving, and fishing. Lifeguards are on duty during daylight hours.

The beach has almost a mile of frontage, with picnic tables, restrooms, showers, upper and lower parking lots with room for 151 cars, and stairs down to the sand. The entrance is at 33850 Pacific Coast Highway, parking lot rates and hours are posted by the county, and the beach cannot be reached by public transit.

On a four-acre site at the beach, the Wishtoyo Foundation's Chumash Village is an outdoor working Native American village, open for guided tours and presentations by appointment. Replicas of Chumash homes, canoes, tools, and handicrafts, along with ceremonies and celebrations, show the public and schoolchildren what daily life in a Chumash village was like.
