About Santa Teresa County Park
Santa Teresa County Park lies in the Santa Teresa Hills about 10 miles south of downtown San José, with trail views over the Almaden Valley and the Santa Clara Valley. More than 17 miles of unpaved trails are open to hikers, equestrians, and cyclists. Some are steep, especially around Coyote Peak, and from March through June the Stile Ranch Trail and many others have strong wildflower displays.
The Pueblo Day Use Area has parking for more than 170 vehicles, an equestrian staging area, scattered picnic tables and barbecues, and a reservable group picnic area for up to 100 people with a large barbecue pit, restrooms, and drinking water nearby. Amplified music needs a permit, and loading in the yellow zone is limited to 20 minutes.
The historic Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch and Santa Teresa Springs are open to the public and host school tours. Agents of Discovery, a free mobile game in English and Spanish, starts at the ranch house and follows the trail to the spring. An archery range run by the Black Mountain Bowmen Archery Club is open to the public except during tournaments. The Santa Teresa Golf Club, run by a concessionaire, has an 18-hole championship course, a nine-hole par-three course, a restaurant, a pro shop, and a banquet facility. The maintenance road along the Coyote Alamitos Canal belongs to the water district and is not part of the trail system.
The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset, and trails open at sunrise. A vehicle entry fee applies at the Pueblo entrance, while the ranch entrance at 372 Manila Drive has free parking.
