About Holdener Park

Holdener Park takes its name from the Holdener family, who ran a drive-in dairy on the ranch until it closed in 1980. In the 1990s the Zumbach family developed part of the 102.5-acre ranch and, as a mitigation requirement, gave 55 acres to the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District. The district opened the land in 2008 as an open space park.

A multi-use trail is shared by hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. It crosses open grassland known for its spring wildflowers and dips into small ravines shaded by blue oaks. Wildlife to watch for includes deer, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls, butterflies, and western fence lizards.

Visitors are asked to park at the end of Hansen Road near the water tanks. There is no running water and there are no restrooms. Dogs are welcome but must stay on leash everywhere in the park, including the trail. The park is open every day from 7 a.m. until sunset.
